James Brown and Partner were not legally married

The late soul icon James Brown was never legally married to his partner, his lawyer said. Tomi Rae Hynie, the mother of Brown's 5-year-old son, has been locked out of his South Carolina home for estate legal reasons. Tomi Rae, a backup singer, was already married to a Texan man in 2001 when she married Brown, and as a result her marriage to Brown is null, said Dallas.
